Work in Progress...

I hate not having anything up right now so I am sharing my work in progress.

Life has been getting crammed so I am doing the best I can with the time I currently have...

I'll post the final piece when I'm done.

I'm also looking at starting painting again... just need the block of time to dedicate to it. 

Working on it... I'll get there.

Update

I was working on a dog today but I'm using a new paper and it is proving challenging.

I'm hoping to have these daily dogs up for sale soon, but I want to find the best paper to offer them on before I make them available.

Newsprint does not last long.....

I should have the one I'm working on available for view soon.

Inked with Embarrassment

I did a pen drawing today from one of my dog show photos.

I'm a bit embarrassed that I haven't posted anything for a while... 

Well.... What's the best way to get past that? 

Shrug your shoulders and work past it!

A Young'n

Cute floppy young Leonberger that I met at the show.

Very loose today since I had some back pain- was rushing through it a bit.

Going to school and working right now so getting drawings up every day hasn't been an option. :(

Still shooting for that goal though!

I want to work on this some more (shading etc) but the hrs got away from me...

Luck of the Irish

I missed St Patricks Day!

So here's my belated Irish Setter.

He was very sweet. One of the benefits of dogs sitting on a grooming table is they are confined to one area and are easier to photograph.

All the Setters where being groomed and their feet where tap dancing with anticipation of what was to come soon...

This was a darling little cocker at the meet the breed booth.

Just sat there on a pedestal being handsome. 

Cotton Ball

I feel like I'm cheating with this one....

Just a cotton ball with a nose and tung.

This guy/girl was kind of done for the day when I spotted 'em at the dog show. 

All the dogs there where very nice with beautiful temperaments.

All Mouth

Today's dog is all mouth... another cutie at the Dog Show.

This Great Pyrenees was at the Meet the Breed booth.

Very soft and sweet. 

Black Beauty

I saw this lovely gentleman at the dog show...

He had a beautiful, very shiny, black coat..

I hope to get into color soon. I may start painting some of the drawings

Otterhounds

I haven't drawn for a few days and I can feel it in my drawings...

Here are 3 Otterhounds that where hanging out at the Otterhound Club booth at the 

dog show this weekend.

They where cute & a bit slobbery.

I think I might start doing some painting to get back into color.

Getting a bit bored with sketches and I'm not pushing myself as much as I should. 

Dog Show Day

I went to a Dog Show at the Del Mar Fairgrounds today!

It was a lot of fun seeing all the beautiful dogs and I took many photos to use for my drawings.

Just having a little fun today.

Senior Dog Sanctuary

I spotted this photo on Facebook.

It was posted by Old Friends Senior Dog Sanctuary.

They are based in Mount Juliet, TN.

Maybe you would be interested in rescuing senior dogs and/or help their mission.

I instantly thought this would be a lovely painting with all the colors in the photo.

And then I thought- Hm.. Blurry photo.. this will be a good exercise to test my anatomy knowledge. 

I enjoy occasionally challenging myself with badly shot or blurry reference.

It forces me to be honest in my drawing and decide what is important.

I didn't finish my drawing today though...

Had to stop everything to go to my day job. :P

Hopefully I'll be able to get my business up and running soon....

So I don't have to work weird hours, missing opportunities to draw/paint, and do what I love daily without stressing about time lost.

Brindle Problems

This is my cousin's dog Panzer.

He's proven very difficult to draw because he has a brindled coat and I can't seem to make up my mind how much or little I want to emphasize the lines on his fur or what choices to make in that regard...

So certainly a coat type I need to be mindful of and work on...

He's a cutie.

Ps- It's been a challenge to draw every day but I'm really trying.

Holly

This is my sweet Holly who passed away 3 yrs ago from cancer.

I miss her every day.

She had such a wonderful happiness about her at all times.

Today I decided to mix it up and do a pen sketch.

Although I consider these quick sketches.. I have been slowing down more to be deliberate.
That has definitely helped with my accuracy in choices. 

Feeling better about my overall skills lately.

Lost Fluff

This little one was brand new when I spotted her at the shelter..

She stayed in one spot right in the middle of the kennel.

Next Painting - Duke

I don't have a new drawing today but I'm going to share a project that I shelved for a while.

This is the beginning of a painting of my dog Duke who died a few months ago.

I couldn't bring myself to work on it after he passed.

I'm going to try again.
